Moments I'll Never Forget

Where should I begin? There have been so many memories created in high school and my earlier years that I will never forget. Not all of these moments are pleasurable or happy; some of them are quite the opposite. Whether they are good or bad, I've lived through some moments that have made an impact on my life and helped me grow into who I am today. I suppose the most memories I've made, or at least some of the best ones, have been on the baseball field. Baseball has always meant a lot to me and whenever I was able to push my talent to the max and really perform, it felt really good. My first high school baseball memory takes place in a home game against King's Mountain my sophomore year. I had really been struggling at the plate and I really needed something to happen to boost my confidence. That something I needed came when I hit my first homerun of the season and my high school career. That made me very happy, but I was even happier when on my next at-bat I was able to put another one over the fence in left center, I was pretty ecstatic. Between then and now a lot has happened that I’ll never forget while playing ball, but my latest unforgettable memory took place recently at our 1st round playoff home game against St. Stevens. I had gone the whole without hitting a home run and right before stepping to the plate for my last at-bat of the game, Caleb Johnson got my attention and said,”5 bucks if you hit one out”. I took his bet into consideration and sure enough I was able to knock a 3 run homer over the left field fence that was barely in fair play. Off the field there has also been some unforgettable memories, most of take place during the summer just hanging out with my friends at the lake or the beach. This blog would be endless if I started talking about all the memories that have taken place in those places. I’ll never forget doing crazy flips off the top of boat houses with some of my best friends and just having a good time. I’ll also never forget certain parts of the many family vacations I’ve experienced. A lot of laughs, good times, and life-threatening times were had on these vacations. I'll also never forget 2/20/2010.

What I Would Like to Say to my Buddies

A lot has gone on in high school, and most of it has been shared with some of my dear friends. Friends are a huge part of the high school life and I was very fortunate to have many acquaintances, a handful of good friends, and a few best friends. First of all I'd like to thank all my friends bearing with me through the tough times, and helping me enjoy perhaps some of the greatest times of my life. The simple fact of the matter is that I would not have made it through high school if it was for some dear friends of mine. They were there to offer advice when I needed it in many different situations and if they were not offering their advice they were just there. I appreciate my friends because I know there are some people much less blessed then I have been in the area of companions. Some people would give it all just to have a few of the friends I have. So therefore I am very grateful and I try not to take my friends for granted. Many memories have been created in high school thanks to my friends. I'll never forgot some of the great times I've shared with my friends. If I were to start listing the many memories that have been created during high school and through out my life, this blog would be WAY to long. So I'll save the reader of this blog some time and just say that it's been a ride, some of it smooth and some of it rough. I'd also like to thank my friends for helping me learn certain lessons. Some lessons have been taught to me by my friends, and other lessons I learned right along with my friends. I just can't thank my friends enough for the experience they've helped to give me, especially the ones that have stuck by me the longest and will continue to be there to help me make the most of life.

Changes In me and Also Some Achievements

A lot has gone on in my high school career. Some of it has been rough, some of it has been great, but all of it has worked together to create what I am today. The most obvious change in me through high school is my maturity level. When I first came into high school I an unknowing young man that had so much to learn. I made a thought of immature decisions and just had the wrong mind set on life. But I learned from my mistakes and I can now say I have a much better handle on my life and I know better how to handle it, though I still have much to learn. A lot of people helped to make me that way, but I would have people that deserve the most credit for any of my improvements in any area are my parents. They have been there for me through it all pouring their wisdom and experience on me though sometime I was not willing to receive it. I can't thank them enough. My greatest achievements would have to be, first off, becoming a better person, and then certain academic awards and athletic achievements. My academic awards would include being state runner-up in the Voice of Democracy essay scholarship, and also the district winner for the Fleet Reserve Association essay scholarship. As far as athletics goes, I've steadily become a better ball player through out high school. All my hard work has paid off as I was able to have the best season of my life in my senior year.

Favorite High School Teachers and Coaches

It has been a real up and down ride when it comes to teachers and coaches throughout high school. I've had teachers and coaches I despised, and also teachers coaches that I very much enjoyed learning from. The first member of R-S Central faculty that pops in my head at the top of my list is Coach Fowler. Coach Fowler was my coach for 3 out of the 4 years I played high school baseball and has taught me a lot. Not only has he taught me so much about baseball and brought my talent to it's fullest potential, but he helped to teach me an attitude that will help me succeed in reaching my goals in life. He once told me that I shouldn't settle for ordinary, but that I should set my goals high, pushing my ability, and become extraordinary. It was that mind set that helped me do good in my final season of high school baseball, and I know it's something that will help me in life. Other teachers that I would call my favorites would be Ms. Cooke and Ms. Hodge. Ms. Cooke always has such a positive outlook on life and everyone loves her because of her giving, caring, and optimistic attitude. I can take her example and become a person with a similar attitude. Ms. Hodge just has an easy going way about her and I love the way she deals with her students. She deals with a lot in the classroom but she always keeps her cool and treats the troublemakers much nicer then I ever would. I can take her patience into life as I will be dealing with a lot of crazy stressful people. We also got along because of our similar love of baseball. She is always cool to talk baseball with.

The Things I Carry Poem

The Things I Carry

The things I carry are of pure necessity
with my Ipod, boredom will never get the best of me
In my back pocket you'll find a wallet mostly empty
but i have what i need, and to me that's plenty
my cell is always handy, an electronical mass
but it's touch screen so it's hard to text in class
my keys are always draped at my side
I need them to drive my pimped out ride
my book bag is for lugging my school crap around
I can almost say it's got up to 500 pounds
inside you'll find; paper, books, and pens
sometimes clothes, it all depends
Sometimes you'll find my lunch encased in Tupperware
Mom makes food so good, I don't want to share
that's pretty much it, all that I carry
If you want something carried
don't call me, call the ferry

Other things I carry people cannot see
these are the things I lug inside of me
sometimes these things seem to heavy to bare
sometimes it's hard but i always get there
I carry the stress of long pointless assignments
and my procrastination shows my defiance
I carry the expectations of my mother and father
if i go far, they tell me to go farther
My future, is ever weighing on my mind
I don't wanna make a rash decision, don't want to fall behind
this is the thing that weighs me down the most
but I stay calm, because I know God is close

Tombstone

"He gave what he couldn't keep, to gain what he couldn't lose".

This is the type of thing that I would like to have written on my tombstone when I die. I would choose this for the simple reason that it is how I want to live my life. What I mean to say is that I'm hoping to live my life in such a way that I am able to remember what things are truely important and that will last for eternity. I believe that this life is very short compared to eternity so therefore it would be unwise to live life trying to gain all I can for my short life on earth, when I could be working to gain all I can for eternity.

My Life

My Life
August 10, 1992, is when my life began. I was born into a family of four, consisting of me, my adopted brother, Stephen, who is from Brazil and is now 24, my adopted sister, Janete, who is from Brazil and is now 28, and my real sister, Allison, who is now 28. I have a real brother that died before I was born in a car accident. I can't wait to meet him in heaven. I now have a little brother named Jacob who is four. He is also adopted.I'll have to say my first few years are a blur. But from what I've heard, it consisted of me crying, being cute, making messes in my diaper, and just well, being a baby. The earliest memory i have of my life is actually really random. It consists of me, I'm guessing I was probably 3 or 4, getting my diaper changed in K-mart and me not liking it one bit. Why do I remember this? I have no clue. Another random memory I have is playing in the river at my old house, which was in the backwoods of Green Hill, and watching, in shock and agony, as my favorite shoes floated down the river and to their utter end. I have lived in 3 houses in my life. The first, in the backwoods of Green Hill where my favorite shoes were claimed by the fearsome river. The second, right beside the Restwell Rest home. In this particular home, our carport ended in about an 8 foot drop, separated from the carport by a wall that stood only about a couple feet high. One day when I was around 5 or 6, I had my back turned to the drop off and I tripped over the wall and fell backwards and almost upside down into the bushes below the ledge. Luckily, the bushes broke my fall and I walked away with only a few scratches and cuts. The fall left me shaken pretty good though. We moved into the house we are in now when I was 8 or 9. It is very conveniently located 30 seconds from my church and 2 minutes from my school. I've played a few different sports in my life but the main one has always been baseball. I played soccer when i was 8 and was fairly decent but i didn't enjoy it like baseball. I had my first organized baseball experience when I was 8 in the Bill's Creek T-Ball league. That is where i first fell in love with the game. After a couple years there, at age 10, I began little league at Crestview Park. I had a blast playing there. Little League is where I hit my first home run. I remember looking up at my dad after I hit and seeing him nod and smile in approval, I was on top of the world. My most memorable moment in little league would have to be when I hit three homers in one game. I don't think I've ever felt so good as I did then. I remember the umpire asking me if I ate steroids for breakfast. I stuck with baseball, playing for Bill Morris' traveling team and also playing in a couple other leagues. I am about to tell you something most people do not believe. I was home schooled from pre-school through 8th grade. I think the simple fact that I am not a nerd throws most people off when I tell them I spent the majority of my school years at home. I didn't mind home school up until about 7th and 8th grade. Sure I liked the sleeping till 8:30 or so, and the getting done with school at 12:30 or so, but I had a deep longing to just get out there. I'm too social of a person to spend my days by my lonesome doing my schoolwork. I co-oped with some of my friends from church but I really just wanted to go to public school. So after much deliberation, my parents decided since my curriculum was getting harder to teach and because of baseball, that they would let me go to public high school. Most of my life before high school just consisted of hanging out with my friends and being young. I remember some of the games we used to play that involved running around the yard in capes and and fighting with sticks (the sticks were actually light sabers). I also took piano lessons for a few years but I eventually lost interest in it and picked up the guitar. I love just sitting back and strumming my guitar every once in a while. It helps me relax and gives me something to do when I'm bored. Anyway, my life up until highschool was pretty simple and carefree. I have great parents that have gone out of their way many times to make my life fun and interesting. They have helped me get to where I am now and I am thankful to God and them.

Poem Day

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

...Robert Frost

This is one of the best poems ever written in my opinion because it deals with a very crucial part of life, decision making. It's about how making the right choice in a big situation is something that will change the direction of your life and therefore is a really big deal. Frost mentions looking back on his decision a long time after, I hope to be able to look back on my decisions and be proud of them and have no regrets

The love song

I saw you and I saw my future
I felt your touch and I felt newer
I heard your voice and I felt weak
My words can't describe what you do to me

Your in my life and I hope you stay
cause no one else makes me feel this way
so buckle-up, lets take a ride
I'll take your hand and we'll take on life

Cause I'm here to stay, I'm stuck in place
The strongest pull couldn't take me away
I know what I have, your all I could ask
You fell from my prayers right into my lap
I wouldn't have it any other way
I'm here to stay

Important Inanimate Object

I've been through a lot with Seth, through the thick and the thin. He first picked me up about 5 years ago, much has happened since then. Since that day I have steadily gone back and forth from being a necessity in his life, to something he could care less about. The times he could care less about me, well, really he was only hurting himself. I say this because I have never led him in the wrong direction. When he needs good advice, I give it. When he needs encouragement, I give it. When he needs direction on how to live his life the fullest, I give. I've spoke to him in his weakest and most distraught moments and I've helped bring him back. I feel like we are pretty close now, he gets up every morning and picks me up to see what I have to say, and I feel he actually enjoys it now. I can say that I have become a very crucial part of Seth Orr's life. I am his bible.

Life Quote

"He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain what he can never lose." - Jim Elliot

This is a quote that has stuck with me for a while now. It reminds me that the world I live in and and the life I live is all momentary. I believe that eternity awaits me after I die. What I invest in here on earth will determine where I'll spend that eternity. So I'll live my life and work towards investing in eternity, and not in my short life on earth.

Advice

High school has been a journey. It's the time in everyone's life where where they really step out and see what the world has to offer. The world has a lot to offer, but unfortunately, a good deal of it can really screw you up. I've failed so many times in high school, going against my morals and my beliefs, but thankfully by the grace of God I didn't mess up as much as I could have. There's massive potential to ruin your life throughout high school. My biggest piece of advice would be, simply put, to think. So many bad decisions are made in the high school years simply because of failure to think things through before actions are taken. Along with the potential to ruin your life, there's also the potential to shine. Stand up for what you believe in, go against the flow, and make high school a time where you can look back know you were you. Aside from that, be involved. Go to sporting events, hang out with people, make it a fun time. DON'T PROCRASTINATE. Push yourself and set high goals, stretch yourself. Experience all the great things high school has to offer.

A minor character that has played a pivotal role in my life

This is hard, because most people that have pivotally changed my life are major figures. But my mind goes to one person in particular, which is my brother. I suppose he would count as a minor character in my life because I never knew him. He died in a car crash before I was born. To make a long story short, because of his death, I'm alive, and that simple fact drives me past failure. Because of that fact, I'm not willing to be just anybody, and I'm not going to live my life like I don't have a purpose on this earth, because I do. Because of that fact, when I see him in heaven, I want him to look back on my life and be proud.

What I Know Now That I Didn't Know Then

The list could be endless. throughout the past recent years, I have learned so much. Things that make me want to go back and time with my current knowledge and approach things differently. One of the biggest things I know now more then ever is that God is all I need. He provides, he comforts, he loves, he's real, and he's a friend as well as heavenly father. As far as life goes, I know now that if you want something, you have to be aggressive. You have to seize opportunities and not let the moment pass, it might never come back.

Future Wife

1.) She's gotta be a Christian, and a real one at that.
2.) I've got to be able to be myself around this girl and not feel any pressure at all to be someone I'm not to impress her. In other words, she needs to love me for being me.
3.) She has to have an appreciation for baseball and be willing to watch/get into games with me
4.) Cooking! she has to be able to cook up a mean meal. I honestly don't think I could handle having a wife that sucks at cooking. My mom has spoiled me on amazing home made food so thats just how it is.
5.) She needs to be socially comfortable and good with people around her.
6.) She needs to look nothing short of gorgeous in my eyes.
7.) She needs to be selfless, and put other people first, caring for people.
8.) She needs to be able to make things interesting. Heaven forbid I end up with a wife thats purely boring and unable to spice things up every once in a while. She justs needs to be able to keep things interesting.
9.) She needs to be sweet.
10.) She needs to be my best friend

Obstacles

I'd have to say I've lived a relatively safe and blessed life. But there have been plenty of rough spots that I’m proud to have smoothed out. The one big obstacle that I’m probably most proud of is keeping my faith throughout high school and my life up to now. I’m proud to have gotten where I am athletically. I’m proud that I was able to hop out of my bubble during my high school years and try new things. I’m proud to have overcome my stage fright, to an extent. I’m proud to have survived 17 years on this earth. I’m proud of all the different skills I’ve acquired by putting the time and hard work in. One particular athletic obstacle I’ve worked hard to get through is my speed. Excessive amounts of sweat poured from my body and my lungs screamed for mercy this summer as I was working to get faster, which I did. I knocked .3 seconds off my 60 time. I’m proud to have almost gotten through high school and being a college bound student.

Boarding

My 4th season of snowboarding is quickly approaching. I started my 8th grade year and I was just as soon addicted. some of my friends and I took advantage of Beech Mountain’s deal where all males got in free on Thursday, and we went most every week. I was home schooled at the time so missing school wasn’t a problem. That is about the only thing I miss about home school. The next year I wasn’t able to go as much because that’s when I started high school, but I was still addicted. My sophomore winter I got my own board finally and started doing jumps and tricks. My junior winter I was only able to go 4 times! I was very upset about that. But now the winter is returning and the slopes are calling my name. I just bought some new bindings for my board and I’m ready to go. I’m going to go as much as I can this year.

Fighting With my Parents

I think me and parents get along quite nicely for the most part. We have a good relationship, but there most definitely has been some rough spots along the way. Most of the time, when we argue, It's about something that they don't think I can handle, and, well, I think otherwise. My parents have loosened up a lot on my limitations as I've gained trust but they used to be little up-tight. Some examples of these clashes would relate to movies I could and couldn't see. See, they have this website that spells out in detail every single bad thing in a movie. I can't tell you how many times we've got into heated debates about a movie, that I knew really wasn't that bad, because they looked on this website that made it sound like I was wanting to go watch some rated x flick. When the movie transformers first came out, they wouldn't even let me watch that! That's probably where our biggest movie fights took place. I told them I knew 6 year olds that went to see that movie. Anyway, that's just one instance out of many. Now days they pretty much let me use my own discretion, which is nice. And I do know they only had the best in mind. They just went a little overboard sometimes. But who can blame them, I know it's tough to be a parent and in their defence some of the movies they didn't let me watch really weren't good for me to be watching.
